Born in Wales in 1957, Voake grew up in Chepstow and the Wirral. Not completely inclined to be an artistic, she instead attended the University of London to study art history. While there, she illustrated her first children's book at the urging of friends. Since 1978 she has found tremendous pleasure in illustrating works of other authors and has gained significant confidence to strike out on her own. Ginger and Hello Twins are two books that Voake has written and illustrated herself. This author/illustrator has won several awards and prizes, and she continues to learn and refine her skills as she creates artwork and books.
