After a fire destroys everything that Rosa, her mother, and her grandmother own, there is no longer a comfortable chair for Mother to sit in and rest her tired feet when she comes home. Rosa begins to save up her money, and all the loose coins and change she finds go into a big jar. When the jar is full, Rosa is able to buy her mother a fat, velvet-covered chair that's even better than the one the fire destroyed.
