It’s back to ancient times as Core G begins an in-depth study of the eras from creation to the 1600s. As your child gets older, they need to learn not only the basic facts, but also a proper Christian worldview. That is exactly what Core G focuses on, providing the critical thinking skills that will enable your child to rightly evaluate the events of history. Now that your child has had a broad overview of history with past Core programs, it’s time to build on their knowledge and dive into history at a deeper level.
The foundation of Core G consists of several books. The Story of the World (Volumes 1 and 2, ancient and medival) by Susan Wise Bauer is a whimsical, easy to read overview of ancient history. Coupled with Usborne Encyclopedia of World History, a beautiful, information-packed book, these two books make for a fun and informative look at ancient history. In addition to these two books are Genevieve Foster’s Augustus Caesar's World and The World of Columbus and Sons. These volumes focus more on the society, culture, and stories from their respective time periods, as well has providing a brief look at what other countries were up to during those times. Enhancing your ancient history education is a collection of biographies, novels, and stories designed to give you a more in-depth look at the philosophies and the people of history. From Hittite Warrior to Luther: Biography of a Reformer, these books give your child an opportunity to evaluate the people and events of ancient times on in an inviting, personal way. Armed with a bible reading program and your Instructor’s guide, you and your child are all set to conquer another year of adventure and discovery.
Please Note: Sonlight Curriculum does not sell their materials to Exodus Books. We carry many of the same titles, and are often able to obtain used copies of books they publish. The following is culled from their 2013 website and includes much of their selection, though it is not comprehensive, nor is it in any sort of curricular order.
