The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

With only a packed lunch and a change of clothes, eleven-year-old Cassie and her younger brother, Nick are on a train heading away from the city–and away from England's war with Germany. The government is sending trainloads of children out of the city to protect them from the bombing.

Carrie wonders if life will be different, without her parents, in this mysterious new place called "Druid's Bottom". What she can't foresee is a dramatic event which will haunt her for the rest of her life.
