The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

A medium-size apartment house, eight stories high, is the setting for this story cycle about a little girl growing up in New York City. A curious six-year-old, Nora wants to know all about the two hundred people in her building, and so she asks what their names are at every opportunity. Now and then someone thinks that Nora is a busybody.
Perhaps the only person who knew more names than Nora was Henry the doorman. But he, like Mommy, was not interested in Nora's idea of having a big party for everyone. However, Nora had other things to occupy her, like borrowing the ingredients that Mommy needed to make stone soup for supper and deciding on a special birthday present to give to Daddy. And one day, sure enough, there was even a giant party.
The warmth and fun of these simple adventures make them especially appropriate for reading aloud or for children who have just begun to enjoy reading alone. Boys and girls will easily identify with Nora and share her concerns.
