The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

Not all dragons want to gobble up princesses. Of the dragons in these fourteen stories some are magnificent, some comic, but there is none that can't be outwitted. There is a fierce dragon who proves a coward before Stan Bolovan and his hundred merry children, and a kind dragon who is delighted when Pepito comes to stay. There are eight wicked black dragons who masquerade as doves, a mighty Chinese dragon who brings the rain, and many others.

Ruth Manning-Sanders has collected these tales from all over the world and tells them with the gaiety and grace that distinguished her earlier collections, A Book of Giants and A Book of Dwarfs. The illustrations by Robin Jacques fit right into the fairy-tale atmosphere, perfectly matching the stories in charm and humor.
