Ariel Myers's mother is the fearless Carlotta the Great who is going to fly her air balloon in the big race of the year 1882. But Ariel falls asleep in the basket and gets taken aloft with her. The balloon is only meant for one person and the two have to work together to stay aloft and avoid crashing into trees and church steeples. Their teamwork wins them a well deserved gold medal.
