The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent condition, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

This simply written, vivid biography reveals an amazing American—a man of imagination, wit, and extraordinary ability. It shows Franklin first as a lively boy, then as a young apprentice in his brother's Boston printing shop. It tells of Ben's running away to Philadelphia and of his winning a place there as a printer. It describes his exciting experiments with electricity, his invention of the Franklin stove, his famous Poor Richard's Almanac. And it emphasizes his many services to his country, at home and abroad.

The illustrations, like the text, are vigorous and authentic.
