Born in Ross, California, Quinn earned his bachelor's degree from the University of San Francisco and his master's and Ph.D. from Princeton University. He is a professor of Rhetoric at the University of California, Berkeley and an author who writes about historical America. Quinn also penned Figures of Speech for people who love words and who love using them correctly.
