Lewis Thorpe

A British author, teacher, editor, and translator, Thorpe served in Italy during World War II before becoming part of the University of Nottingham's faculty.  A professor of French until his death and a past president of England's International Arthurian Society, Thorpe was the husband of Barbara Reynolds, a noted Italian scholar.  He passed away on October 10, 1977.
