The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent condition, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

This is a picture story for children who are beginning to be curious about things that happened in America before they were born.

We have tried to tell the story of exploration simply, using those features of it that will interest children and emphasizing only the high spots. The book is divided into three sections—Finding the New World, The Great Treasure Hunt, Homes in the New World. It is one of a series of picture-histories of which Long Live the King was the first.

Part of the story is told in the text and part in the pictures. We believe that pictures for books of this type should be interesting enough to arouse curiosity and detailed enough to satisfy it. In preparing the text we have used original narratives and the pictures are based, whenever possible, on pictures of the period.
