Poole is a professor in English at the University of Cambridge at Trinity College. He is a Fellow and has been with the University since 1975. An author of tragedies from Shakespeare to Henry James, Poole also co-edited The Oxford Book of Classical Verse in Translation and has edited several nineteenth-century classics by authors such as Charles Dickens and Robert Lewis Stevenson.
