Used An Acorn in my Hand with my 5 children when they were home schooled. Excellent book, self explanatory and it works. A friend recommended it to me. I also took the children to the library and read to them nightly before bed. They love to read.
The excitement in the oldest boy's eyes were worth it all when he read his first word all by himself.
They are all grown now and all the boys are very productive on their jobs. Two are foremen in the oil fields up here. One is a computer tech II in Chicago. The youngest has the same job he started with at 15 in Florida.
