A. W. Tozer

A. W. Tozer

A native of western Pennsylvania, Aiden Wilson Tozer was born on April 21, 1897.  He converted to Christianity, turning to God after returning home from work one day in Ohio.  This later led to his agreeing to pastor a church, though he lacked formal training.  Thus began his lifelong pursuit of understanding God's Word and drawing closer to Him through prayer.  He preached for 44 years, thirty years of which he pastored at Southside Alliance Church in Chicago where he became respected as a man of God.  Tozer also edited the Alliance Weekly magazine, and penned over forty books.  Simple in his lifestyle and unpretentious, Tozer used public transportation to get from place to place and gave much of his royalties to people in need.  This American Protestant pastor passed away on May 12, 1963.
