At the age of 79, his life and work almost completed, Owen Jones felt that he had to leave just one final tribute to an era he flourished in and a county he obviously loved, by paying homage to a monarch who represented all the splendour of a kingdom and empire at its zenith. The Psalms of David is an elaborately illuminated setting of the poetic devotions which are not only sacred to both the Jewish and Christian faiths, but revered by those of all persuasions for their evocative literary beauty. Arranged and numbered to be read over a period of thirty days, the 150 psalms are set out in large, beautifully illustrated pages, whilst the decoration and finely interwoven ornament of the borders reflect Jones' craftsmanship and a lifetime of study.
