Pietro Perugino was one of the significant artists of the Renaissance period. The Renaissance began in the fourteenth century in Italy - Perugino's homeland - and spread to other parts of Europe. It was an exciting revival of the classical tradition in literature, learning, and the arts. Many great artists came out of this period - including some of Perugino's friends. They were extremely gifted, but they also worked hard to master their craft - as Perugino did. This is Perugino's story.
