Kavanaugh, born on October 20, 1954, grew up to earn a doctorate in music composition. He served as the executive director of the Christian Performing Artists' Fellowship in Vienna, Virginia, and as the artistic director of the MasterWorks Festival. A conductor, composer, and performer, Kavanaugh also authored several books including The Spiritual Lives of the Great Composers, The Music of Angels, and Raising Musical Kids. With his wife, Barbara, he co-authoredDevotions from the World of Music. Kavanaugh lives, writes, and serves the Lord in Virginia.
