The National Christian Forensics and Communications Association is an organization dedicated to bringing communications-based activities to Christian high schoolers around the country. Currently serving approximately 4,000 students each year, NCFCA places particular emphasis on excellence in academic and personal integrity as students learn to communicate more effectively.

Offering both speech and debate platforms, they have established a dynamic program of three types of formal debate with the ultimate goal of training young people to be able to think critically and communicate effectively about all issues in a manner that pleases God. Each style offers unique educational opportunities while including a focus on research skills, respectful argumentation, refutation, organization, and effective presentation and speaking skills. Because competitors must debate both sides of a topic, they learn to advocate for and oppose a proposition without compromising their own beliefs. These three types are: Team Policy Debate, Moot Court, and Lincoln-Douglas Value Debate.

Lincoln-Douglas debate resolutions are constructed to create a clash of competing values rather than the adoption of a specific policy. The Lincoln-Douglas debate format is one-on-one debating, named after the famous debates between Stephen Douglas and Abraham Lincoln.

Understanding how to articulate your thoughts is a vital component of any education, and NCFCA Comprehensive Guide to Value Debate will equip your students to effectively address life issues using the power and impact of the spoken word. Students will learn how to reason; research a topic; construct, defend, and refute an argument; and communicate in a persuasive way to many different types of audiences. In addition, this course offers students plenty of opportunities to exercise these skills through fun and practical hands-on activities that accompany each lesson. Throughout this course, students will also learn to apply a Christian worldview to the activity of debate and be inspired to use their communication skills in service to Christ.
