Howard Phillips

Phillips was born on February 6, 1941. He converted to evangelical Christianity from his Jewish religion while an adult. During the President Nixon administration, Phillips was in charge of two federal agencies, including being Director of the U.S. Office of Economic Opportunity. He left the Republican party when President Nixon changed his policy on funding certain programs. Joining the Democratic party, he ran for but lost the seat for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts. By then Phillips had become chairman of The Conservative Caucus, a nonpartisan public policy advocate group and serves as President of Policy Analysis, Inc. Founding a third party called the Constitution Party, Phillips has run as its presidential candidate three times with varying degrees of success but never winning the presidency. Phillips and his son Doug along with R. C. Sproul and his son R.C. Sproul, Jr. give insights to parents in the DVD Fathers and Sons. His son Doug Phillips is involved in public service as well serving as the founder of Vision Forum with wife Beall. Howard Phillips lives with his wife in Virginia.
