  Strange

While I will admit that this book was engaging to read (for the most part), I wasn't thrilled with all the evolutionary propaganda that infiltrated almost every chapter. The main character is a scientist following in the footsteps of a man to claimed to have been to the center of the earth. Instead of getting hotter and hotter, they seem to be going back to the different ages of the earth. They find pre-historic plants and animals, and everything is interpreted through an evolutionary lens. The ending is rather long and drawn out... but I won't give it away. It's rather strange.
  So Much Fun!

I read this to the kids for literature class. The grades range from 4th grade through 8th grade. The subtle humor was not lost on any of them and the suspense kept them waiting for the next chapter every morning. They are willing now to read anything by Jules Verne.
