For starters, any game playable by 4-20 players has to be pretty awesome.
Imagine winning a trivia match when you don't know the answers to any of the questions. Wits & Wagers is exactly that game, pitting players' intuition rather than their knowledge against each other.
Every question has a numeric answer—for instance, "How many yards wide is a football field?" could be answered by 6, 17, 147, or 53.3, all numeric answers. Each player writes their answer on a slip of paper which is put on a green betting field. You might not have a clue what the answer is and write something ludicrous like 2, but if Uncle Rico is playing you know he knows how wide a football field is, so you bet on his answer.
This a betting game rather than a trivia game, really. You can bluff, bet on your own answer, read players to determine whether they know what they're talking about. Wits & Wagers is an awesome party game.
You could get pretty devious. If you know the answer to a question, and you know someone else knows the answer, you could write the wrong answer knowing people will vote for yours, and then vote for the other guy's yourself. Such scuzzy tactics are frowned upon in polite society, but Wits & Wagers is an amazing alernative reality (unless you're a CEO or a lawyer) where you can behave like a Machiavellian wacko with few if any consequences. (Of course, your wife might not talk to you for a week afterward, but that might not be entirely bad, either.)
Really, though, this game is super incredibly fun. It makes a good family game, too, though players will likely know each other well enough that some of the risky elements are lost in play. And just remember that Uncle Rico will be thinking in terms of a high school football field, not a professional field. That might or might not be important.
