Richard J. Maybury

Richard J. Maybury

Born in Ohio in 1946 to parents Anthony and Ruth, Maybury later attended college before being drafted in the Air Force.  After spending four years as part of the 605th Air Commando Squadron, with time spent in anti-guerilla warfare in Central America, Maybury returned home and graduated from California State University at Sacramento.  Maybury took a teaching position as a high school economics professor and was appalled that he couldn't find a textbook explaining economics clearly.  He believed all  students should have a basic understanding of economics that wasn't polluted by government leanings, and so Maybury began penning his own books.  He started with Whatever Happened to Penny Candy? and kept rewriting until his students were clear on his subject matter and liked his style of writing.

For, Maybury's style was that of a letter from a dear uncle to his nephew.  This made his Uncle Eric books faster paced and in prose that spoke directly to the students.  More books followed built upon his first success, and Maybury began working as a freelance writer on business and economics, law, and history for major United States newspapers and magazines.  Maybury also began penning a monthly financial newsletter called U.S. & World Early Warning Report and served as the former global affairs editor for Moneyworld.  Maybury is the author of over twenty books and is held in high esteem for his business, geopolitical, and economic analysis.  He has been interviewed on radio and television shows all over America.  This author, analyst, and lecturer is currently the president of Henry Madison Research, Inc.
