Peter Roop

Peter Roop
Born on March 8, 1951 in Winchester, Massachusetts, Roop later earned a bachelor's degree from Lawrence University and the same year married his wife Connie in August 1973.  Roop taught elementary education in Appleton, Wisconsin and realized that he wanted to be an author as well.  He earned his master's degree in children's literature from Simmons College and began writing historical articles for Cobblestone and Cricket magazines.  After four books and six years, Roop engaged his wife in a writing partnership.  This led to a fruitful writing career for both of them.

Roop taught in the elementary grades for 25 years, receiving the Wisconsin State Teacher of the Year award in 1986.  Later, retiring to write and speak to students and teachers full time, Roop and his wife have gone into schools for conferences and visits with a range of programs to entertain and enlighten their audiences.  One year alone Roop traveled to 22 states and spoke with over 50,000 students.  The teacher, author, and speaker has enjoyed seeing over 100 fiction and nonfiction books published.  He continues to write from his home in Wisconsin.
