Rasmussen and his wife Lore developed Miquon Math Materials. This product and several others helped contribute to Rasmussen's decision to co-found Key Curriculum Press. Rasmussen also served on the University of Illinois Committee on School Mathematics curriculum project as an editor. As a teacher, he has taught math at University High School in Urbana and at Berkeley High School in California.
