Not really a story, this picture book depicts a series of moments leading up to the death of Granpa. Beautiful and eloquent in its portrayal of the special love between a little girl and her grandfather, this will nevertheless be less interesting to kids than to the adults who already understand loss.
Now in paperback, Granpa won the New York Times Illustrated Book Award when first published in 1985.
