    Dover Coloring Books
by Peter Copeland, Tom Tierny, A. G. Smith, John Green, & numerous others
Dover coloring books are well-known and respected by colorists everywhere. You're likely to find many of them in art shops and bookstores all over the country. We've drawn together a selection that supplements history, science and nature, fashions, and other topics of interest. Although the drawings tend to be too detailed for younger children to manage to "color between the lines," they are beautiful, enjoyable and informative even for adults.
We have added nearly 200 coloring books to our selection in the last eight months.  It's worth checking out!

    Teaching the Classics
    by Adam & Missy Andrews
Because of their academic backgrounds, Adam Andrews and his wife Missy were asked to explain to some home school parents (in just four weeks!) how to teach their kids to analyze literature. A crazy idea, they thought, but the persistent neighbors kept asking until they agreed to try, and Teaching the Classics was born.

We heard of this program early in 2006, ordered a copy, and were intrigued enough by it that we took it home for more careful review. My wife and I spent a week of evenings watching the DVDs and reading through the syllabus, and we are now convinced of the usefulness of the material. It is not for students, but for parents. It teaches you how to lead discussions about literature discussing the five major elements of a story (conflict, plot, setting, characters, and theme) using the "Socratic method." And it does this very simply, using children's tales to bring these elements out.  Take a look at the product detail page for more info...

    Lágrimas de Sangría (CD)
    by Owain Phyfe
The latest CD from modern-day bard Owain Phyfe, a a collection of music from all over South America. As Rio Blue puts it, "The songs of these pages were written under the moon and the thunder. Their history is long. It comes traveling from forever in the voice of the people and their instruments, in the heart, in their tears, in friendship, in merriment and in shared wine."  Eli really enjoys Owain's music, especially his Renaissance period stuff, and this was a welcome addition to his music library.

    Paedofaith
    by Rich Lusk
At what point is it reasonable to suggest that a covenant child has faith?
When she can articulate the gospel? When he can explain the covenant of justification? Only after they have gone through an extended period where their faith is tested and proven to be real faith? Or is the capacity for faith directly linked to a certain age or level of maturity?
The scriptures indicate that we can be confident that our children have faith from the womb and that we can expect that faith to flower and bloom throughout their life by God's grace.
Cornelius Van Til wrote about his experience growing up in a Christian home—"Though there were no tropical showers of revivals, the relative humidity was always very high . . . I was 'conditioned' in the most thorough fashion. I could not help believing in God—in the God of Christianity—in the God of the Bible!"
What is the nature of such faith? From where does it come and what do the Scriptures have to say about it? How can anyone say that an infant has the capacity for faith?
In this book, Rich Lusk answers these questions and more, giving hope to Christian parents that their little ones do indeed belong to Christ and have the capacity to trust Him.

    Created for Work
    by Bob Schultz
Bob Schultz's previous book, Boyhood and Beyond, addressed essential issues related to godly character as boys transition into manhood. In Created for Work he applies his engaging homespun wisdom, with stories from real life, to teach young men (and boys) what it means to be good workers.
Modern culture seems addicted to ease and entertainment. It has produced a generation of educated yet often dishonest, unproductive, and weak-willed men. God desires higher standards for His people. He is looking for young men who do not shy away from hard work, who are not afraid to get their hands dirty, who can follow directions, think creatively, respect authority, and happily complete their duties in a timely manner. These are the ones He is training up to be future fathers, teachers, and Leaders. Created for Work inspires young men and offers the tools and encouragement they need to embrace God's ways and always give an honest day's work.

    League of Grateful Sons (DVD)
    by Vision Forum
What is the godly legacy of the fathers of World War II? Their story has not been told—until now!
More than 182,000 American fathers died in the Second World War, leaving nearly a million children fatherless. Hundreds of thousands of other fathers did return from war, some who tragically never connected with their children. But within the ranks of the survivors and the heroic dead were a remarkable collection of men who made it a life mission to speak the providences of God and the meaning of manhood to the boys who would fill their shoes. Through wartime letters and present-day pilgrimages to the bloody battlefields of their youth, the ancient warriors have spoken. Their thankful children rise to honor and surpass their legacy. They are "The League of Grateful Sons."

    Days of Vengeance
An Exposition of the Book of Revelation

    by David Chilton
After six long years of being out of print, this book is finally back!  An important and massive volume, carefully expositing with extraordinary detail the book of Revelation. Chilton reminds us that Revelation is not just a loose post-script to the Bible, but is integrally tied to the rest of Scriptures. He teaches us that Revelation was a prophecy about eminent events— which were about to take place in the first century. He explains the systematic structure of Revelation symbols. He shows us that Revelation is a vision of a worship service in progress, not a textbook on prophecy. And he exhorts us to hope by saying that Revelation is a book about Dominion—the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our God, and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever.

    Bounty Trilogy
by Charles Nordhoff & James Norman Hall
The three novels contained in this set are a fictionalized account of an amazing voyage that actually happened during the late 1700s.  Harsh treatment on a mission to Tahiti begets a mutiny, which in turn leads to betrayal, murder, and vengeance.  Peace is restored only by returning to Biblical precepts. Although harsh at times, this is a fascinating and incredibly descriptive story.  ("One of my all-time favorites," says Eli)  See the details of the set for more story description.

History Through the Ages - Record of Time & Timeline CD-ROM
    by Amy Pak
For those of you interested in creating your own timelines for history, we are pleased to offer these two tools.  The Record of Time is the most nicely layed-out notebook we've seen and if you want to create a keepsake timeline, this is the one we'd recommend.  Paired with the notebook is a great tool for timeline figures—a CD-ROM that offers thousands of printable images.  The material is indexed in a variety of ways and offered in different formats for ease of changing images at will.  Though a little more expensive than some other options, we think these are fantastic.
