Leaving behind the alligators and cypress swamp, we got on the big
highway and headed farther north. We had a bit of an adventure
getting into Cape Coral (the map was wrong!) and decided to
stop for dinner before seeing how well I remembered the way to my
one-time home. In honor of Eli's dad, Bob, we decided to eat
at a Bob Evans restaurant. |

Feeling much refreshed by a hearty meal, I managed to get us to
Emerald Cove, the place where I lived from February, 2001 to June,
2002. |
 |
Here's the house, looking much as we left it.
(Except when we lived there, we had a lush palm hedge between us and
the neighbors on the left. They didn't like it, preferring
instead to look out at somebody else's windows, and would have made
us cut it down if we hadn't moved.) |

I wish we could have seen inside, but we didn't really feel like
knocking on the door. |

This is the pool that belongs to the community. My family
spent many hours of fun swimming here, especially since our elderly
neighbors liked to keep it heated. |

We also had this little lakeside beach to play on. I doubt the
community appreciated us digging it up and making it all uneven.
The landscape company would come every Tuesday and rake it smooth
again. But what's the use of having a beach if you're not
going to dig in it? |

It was fun to make this little stop so Joshua and Eli could get a
glimpse (even if it was a very tiny one) at this part of my life. |
