Tuesday was a relaxed day (just about every
day was!) and we spent it wandering
around downtown Victoria. The picture on the left is of
the Empress
and the one on the right is of the Government Building.
After Monday's clouds, the weather brightened up
and we had sun for most of the rest of the week. It was
windy, though, as you can see by
my desperate attempts to hang on to my hat, and the wind had a
bite to it as it came right off the harbor. |

Because of the chilly wind and the drizzles we had
on Monday, we thought it would be good
to have some hats. So as we trekked up Government Street and
down Warf Street
we kept our eyes open for a hat store that would have classier hats
than baseball caps plastered with "Canada!"
Eventually we found Roberta's Hats, and it was exactly what we were
looking for.
The rest of the week we felt rich and sophisticated as we walked
around bedecked,
and so did the several people who complimented us on our choices.
A day didn't go by that someone didn't say, "Nice hats," from fellow
tourists,
to biker dudes and drunk old men on their way home from a bar! |

"Hands up!" |

After a filling dinner of deliciously cooked steak from "The Keg" we
went on a horse and carriage ride.
I had never done that before, but this was worth waiting for! |

The Empress Hotel is a beautiful building, especially there on the
left, bathed in sunset light.
As famous as "Tea at the Empress" is, we never ended up tasting it.
After our tea at Butchart and an afternoon tea served at our inn,
we had had enough delicacies and were more than happy to partake of
good, filling steak! |
