On Tuesday afternoon, after we had seen as many Redwoods as our brains could handle, we headed north again.  We had been told of a good used books store in Ferndale and we wanted to check it out.  When we arrived we found out that they were phasing out the Ferndale location and moving all their excess stock into the Eureka location.  This meant two things: first, most of the books had already been packed up; and second, the ones that were still out were all half off.  Though there wasn't much selection, we managed to find a few books there, and we didn't mind the fact that they were half off at all!  When we had finished perusing, we headed off to Eureka, where we had been planning on spending the night--but of course we had to first find out what the Eureka location had to offer.  If you are ever in Eureka, I hope you have time to check out Eureka Books because it was well worth the stop.  We came out with several bags full of books.  Some were to re-sell at Exodus and others (the cooler ones) were to add to our library.  We found excellent books such as a first edition, hardbound Daddy-Long-Legs, a collection of Lawrencville Stories, an edition of Robin Hood, by Louis Rhead, several nice Reader's Digest classics, and many others.  When we got home, it felt like Christmas opening up all the bags!
When we were finally done browsing, we loaded our selections into our already loaded car and found a place to spend the night.
The next morning we ate breakfast at the "Samoa Cookhouse," which used to be a cookhouse to serve meals to the loggers who worked in the area.  Now it has been turned into a restaurant where all the meals are served "lumber camp" style.  Guests sit at long tables and the food is brought to the table in big platters.  They offer seconds so no one goes away hungry.  It reminded me of our church's Family Camp!
After eating we spent a little time wandering along the Eureka Boardwalk.  We admired the bay and took a few pictures before we headed off on the next leg of our journey.
