This is an updated version of the Blue-Backed Speller. The blends and words in this reader are arranged to correlate with the sequence in which the special phonics sounds are taught. It is an invaluable teaching tool for children who need extra practice in the application of phonics rules.

Excellent book that could be used as a starter phonics based reading curriculum. I have found it helpful and refer to it often. We use it for spelling lists too. Uncluttered, without loads of pictures to distract. Could be used with any phonics based workbook. Sometimes we spend a lot of money on flashy things when the old fashioned basic things work just fine. Useful for a K child or an adult learning to read.
