Designed both to enable novice leaders to teach nature subjects successfully, and to offer new approaches to experienced environmental educators. Intended to encourage children's curiosity and concern about their natural world and to give them experiences from which they can gain an understanding of the way it functions. Workshop topics are intended to clearly relate information and activities so that children will understand the focus.

Encourages care for the environment by setting examples such as releasing all creatures and rarely picking plants. Activities are targeted for the K-6 level, but can be selectively used or adapted for younger and older children. Each workshops contains an informational essay and an activity section. Essay covers basic facts and concepts needed to teach the workshop. Activities include teaching hints: seasons, focus, initial question, objective, activity instruction, materials, follow-up activities, skills list, suggested reading for children, and teaching aids. Suggested grade levels and length of time are deliberately omitted. Activities include puppet shows and outdoor excursions.
