There was once a woman who loved her dog, Martha Jane, very much. She took her everywhere: to the park, to the store, and even the bookshop she owned. She loved her dog so much that she named her bookshop after her. Everyone who visited the bookstore loved Martha Jane, and the bookstore prospered. But when the woman has to go to the hospital to get her tonsils removed, she is disappointed to learn that she can’t take Martha Jane with her. As it happens, there is no lack of willing helpers. Mary Jane is so popular that the whole town arrives to take care of her. Trouble is, they all begin fighting and bickering over her. Soon, it looks like everyone will have to go to the hospital too. Who will take care of Martha Jane?
