See our honest review of Light and the Glory.

American history from a distinctly Christian perspective, this book reads like a story. Covering Columbus's discovery to George Washington's presidency, the authors tell the story of the founding of America in an engaging manner, bringing these historical characters to life and imagining dialogue that might have taken place. This book is meticulously researched and many primary sources and original documents are quoted. However, the authors take their Christian slant too far in some places and tend to come across as portraying everyone as good guys. (They ignore, for example, the fact the Isabelle and Ferdinand were behind the horrendous Spanish Inquisition). We would not recommend this book as a primary text for American history, but it can be an enjoyable, easy-to-read secondary text that will give you an appreciation for God's sovereignty and our Christian heritage.
