CC Challenge A

Challenge A seeks to introduce middle school students to the rigorous work of the Challenge program. It is a mix of grammar, dialectic materials, and an introduction to basic rhetorical skills. The amount of reading is purposefully limited to give students time to work on their writing skills. Challenge A is less demanding than later Challenge levels, yet fulfilling and preparatory. It bridges students from the earlier parent/tutor directed elementary levels, to a more self-directed stage of learning.

All the assignments that comprise the Challenge A course are presented in the Classical Conversations Challenge A Guide. Most of the coursework is scheduled week-by-week and it also offer additional resources for both parents and students in the back-of-the-book apendices. Please note that this guide is only available through registration in a Challenge A community.

The Challenge programs typically meet once a week for fifteen weeks in the fall and fifteen weeks in the winter/spring months.

This curriculum involves Saxon math, sciences, classic literature, writing, debate, and much more. Students develop and strengthen the life-long learning skills of grammar, exposition, debate, logic, rhetoric, and research. This curriculum is supplemented by weekly classroom time with a trained Challenge Director/Tutor.

Many parents feel inadequate to homeschool their students through the high school years. The CCChallenge programs can help by modeling how to school with confidence during these very important years. Being involved in the Challenge program also helps direct you through your transcript and college preparation needs by keeping you well-informed and providing the tools you need for your record keeping.
