Childhood of Famous Americans

One of the most popular series ever published for young Americans, the Childhood of Famous Americans series has been praised by parents, teachers, and librarians, and eagerly read by kids across the country. Each book has an easy-to-read story about a boy or girl who grows up to be famous as an inventor, statesman, nurse, doctor, explorer, or some other worthy occupation. With these lively, inspiring, fictionalized biographies, today's kids are swept right into the early lives of great Americans. They will appreciate the antics, dreams, and desires of other kids like them.

The series was first published from the 1940's through the 1960's. Over 170 were published, and although many of the original titles are now out-of-print (a few have been reprinted by Patria Press as the Young Patriots series), the series has continued through the years and is still going strong with a fresh look and 70 books available as of 2011.

In early 2015, Simon & Schuster decided to revitalize this series, renaming it History's All-Stars and beginning to publish the books with a brand-new modern look. They have since decided against this plan, and all of the COFA titles will go back to the COFA imprint.
