Core W condenses the two-year world history course of Cores G and H into a one year course. Though its content is a little less full than the two year course, Core W is still a comprehensive and enjoyable overview of world history. Armed with the best of Core G and H, plus some familiar books from Cores B and C, Core W is perfect for 13 to 14 year olds just starting out with Sonlight. Core W is not in the normal pattern for Sonlight users. Most Sonlight users go from Core A to Core H and go on to 100.
The foundation for Core W is A Child's History of the World. Accompanied by Augustus Caesar's World, The World of Columbus and Sons, and The Usborne History of the 20th Century, this foundation will give your child an information-packed, easy to read overview of world history. Complimenting this foundation is a collection of novels, biographies, and other excited books that add depth and a deeper look at the history your child is learning. Book like I am David, D’aulaires Book of Greek Myths, and The Eagle of the Ninth make reading and learning about history an exciting and enjoyable experience as well as delving deeper into the thoughts and people of history. Books like But Don’t All Religions Lead to God? and Live Like a Jesus Freak help your child establish a godly worldview and teach them to rightly evaluate the history they are learning about. Accompanied by your helpful instructor’s manual, Core W is a comprehensive course in world history that those just starting out with Sonlight will appreciate.
Please Note: Sonlight Curriculum does not sell their materials to Exodus Books. We carry many of the same titles, and are often able to obtain used copies of books they publish. The following is culled from their 2011 website and includes much of their selection, though it is not comprehensive, nor is it in any sort of curricular order. For a complete listing, visit the Sonlight Curriculum website.
