The recorder is often seen as a "toy instrument" because of its low cost and common use in elementary school, but it is, in fact, a genuine musical instrument! Before the violin became popular in the Baroque era, the recorder was one of the most common and expressive instruments in use. The recorder is still a very good option for many students today. Pros include affordability (decent instruments are available for $12-$60), portability, ease of learning, versatility, and increased ensemble opportunities (which increases musicianship). It's certaintly a lot easier for three siblings to make delightful music together with three recorders than to get three people playing on three pianos together!
Private recorder lessons are now being offered in the store at Exodus for $15 per half-hour. Please ask for Joseph!
