Exploring the Building Blocks of Science Book 1 introduces early learners to foundational scientific concepts and terminology. Real science concepts are explained clearly and in a manner that is easy for kids to understand. Using this set gives kids a solid base on which to build a further study of science. This year-long curriculum contains four chapters each of five scientific disciplines: chemistry, biology, physics, geology, and astronomy, as well as an introductory and a concluding chapter for a total of 22 chapters. The many graphics in the full color textbook reinforce the concepts presented and make the book fun for kids and teachers alike to read. Students will get an overview of the different scientific disciplines and learn about atoms, molecules, chemical reactions, taxonomy, biological cells, viruses and bacteria, force, work, energy, what Earth is made of, volcanoes and earthquakes, the Moon and the Sun, our solar system, and much more. Students are also introduced to the history of science and will learn about Aristotle, Theophrastus, and Copernicus.
The Laboratory Notebook introduces kids to the excitement of doing hands-on, real, but easy-to-perform science experiments. The Teacher's Manual provides instructions for guiding students through the experimental process, suggests guided inquiry questions to help students think critically about the experiments they are performing, lists objectives for each experiment, and provides answers where applicable.
