Axis & Allies celebrates 25 years of strategy war gaming with a deluxe edition of its original theater-level game. Axis & Allies Pacific 1940, designed and developed by Larry Harris, utilizes the updated rules established in A&A Anniversary Edition. Two new combat units debut in this game, Tactical Bombers and Mechanized Infantry. Australia and New Zealand, joined together as the ANZAC forces, represent a new playable ally. China fields more forces than ever before, but will need help from their allies -- the United States and England—to withstand the might of expansionist Imperial Japan.

Axis & Allies Pacific 1940 features an oversized board that measures 35 inches wide by 32 inches high (89 x 81 cm). With over 450 pieces, deluxe game components and local storage boxes, this game raises the standard established by A&A Anniversary Edition. All new rules for neutral nations, naval & air bases, kamikaze attacks and convoy disruption add even more depth and historical accuracy to this giant game.

Finally, this deluxe theater-level game is designed to join together with Axis & Allies Europe 1940 to create the greatest Axis & Allies experience to date! When joined, these boards will measure 5 feet wide by 32 inches high (178 x 81 cm). Both games have been designed to play alone or together to offer a 2-6 player global 1940 scenario, complete with separate set up and national objectives.

Integrates with Axis & Allies Europe 1940.

One of My Favorite Games Ever
Daniel of OR, 12/28/2011
Of all the Axis and Allies board games, this one has the most naval pieces. It is definitely one of my favorites. The first few turns are the most critical, and can take a long time to complete.

At the outset, Japan has lots of pieces, plus a surprise attack advantage for the first turn. The British player must hold India and Australia long enough for the USA (which starts with almost no pieces, but a high production ability) to enter the war and turn the tide.

Compared to the original Axis & Allies, this set has several new pieces that make it more realistic and interesting.

This game takes between 1 and 4 hours to play, and it's great for learning history and geography.
  Big and Good!

If you have enjoyed Axis & Allies in the past, this is the newest and biggest version yet. the board is much bigger, there are additional player nations (India, Australia and China), new units (destroyers, cruiser, tactical bombers), and new strategic goals for each player. This version seems much more realistic than the original Axis & Allies, but is still pretty balanced. Japan starts with a massive fleet, but it is challenged by getting troops to the mainland, and its dwarfed economy as soon as the US enters the war. Its a bit spendy, but its Axis & Allies on a whole new level.
This version can be played by 2-4 players (I would recommend 2-3), and takes around 2-4 hours to play.
This Pacific game can be combined with the Europe version and provide the ultimate Axis & Allies experience (5-12 hours of it!!). The combined boards are almost 6 feet long!
