Lee Roddy

Born sick and handicapped on August 22, 1921 in Illinois, Roddy spent the next ten years of his life unhealthy.  Unable to do the boyish activities of many kids his own age, Roddy took to reading books.  With the help of surgeries, Roddy's life improved, and he began writing short stories and articles that saw publication.  In his early twenties Roddy decided to become a full-time writer.  He took a position writing copy for corporations at a Los Angeles advertising agency.  Not exactly the type of writing he had intended to pursue, Roddy nevertheless learned much before moving on to write radio dramas for NBC, ABC, and CBS.

Roddy also penned novels.  The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, turned into a hugely popular television series on NBC.  A prolific writer of over 65 books, five of which became motion pictures, Roddy has authored many books for children as well.  A successful writer and respected speaker, Roddy also teaches fiction writing techniques to potential authors.  With his wife Cicely, Roddy maintains his website, speaks at writing conferences, and provides children and adults with wholesome books to read and enjoy.
