Joshua Harris

Joshua Harris

Joshua Harris is well known for his outspoken views on Christian dating from a conservative, biblical perspective. The son of Gregg and Sono Harris, both of whom are involved in church ministry and the homeschool movement, Harris was born in Ohio in 1974 and grew up in Gresham, Oregon. As a teenager, he began the youth ministry New Attitude, which started as a quarterly magazine but has since developed into a nationwide conference. Through deep conviction and persistent thought, Harris wrote the book I Kissed Dating Goodbye, setting forth his personal experiences with our culture's concept of dating and constrasting them with some thoughts on more of a courtship model for relationships. Not long after this book was published, Harris took an internship at Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland, where he met his wife Shannon. After their marriage, he created a follow-up book to I Kissed Dating Goodbye called Boy Meets Girl. Harris recently became the senior pastor at Covenant Life Church, where he lives out his passion for the equipping of the local church. He is the author of Stop Dating the Church and Sex Is Not the Problem (Lust Is), founder of Sovereign Grace Ministries, and belongs to The Gospel Coalition and The Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. Joshua and Shannon Harris have three children.
