The author takes us on a brief tour through historical events, showing the Roman governmental systems in action. His focus is to show how the U.S. has gradually shifted to the Roman model, and to explain the economic consequences we should expect from what he calls the "Roman disease." This book asks the question: are we headed for fascism like ancient Rome?

Although economics gets considerable attention in this book, it focus is definitely on U.S. government. You might like to use this book in conjunction with your studies of that topic.
